PostPosted: Thu May 15, 2008 8:32 pm   Post subject:  INFORMATION NEEDED ABOUT LISTING ON GOOGLE #1  Back to top

I was looking around the forum just to see what was going on and I came across a link to Google Base. I clicked the link and started reading and found out I can list directly to->"Google Base".

I had no idea this could be done! I can put things up for sale directly on Googles search engine. "NO WEB SITE NEEDED". I already opened up a Google account but have never used it.

Well, I don't know how well it will work or even if it's what I think it is but I do have a few high end items I'm going to try and list on Google Base.

If someone else is already doing this please give the info up. I'm interested.

From what I read the listings last 30 days then end. Items can be relisted with a few clicks. Pictures can be uploaded directly from the individuals computer. Item descriptions can be given. Google checkout can be used and other payment options can be listed.

I'm still baffled about the manual listing. It says under 10 items but I did a read through of all the help articles and found a sentence that says "If more than 10 items are going to be listed it will save the seller some time using the RSS/Atom feeds instead of doing it manually. I am under the impression that more than 10 items can be uploaded manually but there is nothing that states that clearly. I guess I will have to get busy and upload the 10 items + 1 to find out.

I've been posting my items at GB for quite a while now and though I get a lot of hits/views/clicks, no sales so far. I do link all of my listings THERE (GB) to my own web site which per the buyers THERE (main web site), some have picked me and or my products up from GB but chosen to save $$ by buying from me direct. Go figure Very Happy

BTW, I've moved your OP from "general chat" to the "GB discussion" thread to where hopefully, more GB users will see your post and answer your questions.

iOffer.com is usually hurting in the help/instructions department, but they do have a decent page on Google Base on how to put your items from your online store into google base also to help push your sales

http://www.ioffer.com/info/googlebase

I didn't know you could do that with Google Base either until earlier this year. It's a great way to add your items into the Google Shopping search engine. Neat stuff.

Thanks for the info. Peter. I've been reseaching Google base and found the ioffer transfer page. I know Plunderhere was doing it automatically on all of their listings. I decided to list to Google base manually and put in an auction site link where the item is listed. Lots of time and work listing to Google base manually but I will have more fexibility. My listings will always stay posted unless I remove them or the 30 day time clock runs out. I can move my items to any auction site and only have to go back and change the link line.

The only problem I may have is having to reset the time clock manually after each 30 period expires. I haven't went through my first 30 period yet so I guess I will just have to wait and see if the clock will reset automatically when the time period expires or if the clock will have to be reset manually after each time period. Listing there manually suits me better so I guess I should get ready to do lots of clicking every 30 days.

Thanks for the info.

I, too, have been listing my items with Google Base for a while now. Yet to see any sales from there, though I get a lot clicks. I, also, add the link to my personal site to the listings.

Yea, I have about 100 items on Google Base right now with links to my Auction sites installed and can only say I maybe have had one sale that was generated through Google Base. The buyer clicked the link to one of my auction sites and made the purchase on the auction site instead of through Google Base. That's OK! One's better than 0.

I have alot of Impressions, a few clicks and some page views. Lots more page views than clicks. I guess that means one person views an item then schrolls through my inventory.

It's only been three weeks and on some auction sites I've waited up to 8 months for the sales to start coming. We'll see!
