I am not promoting my cart and not off topic at all. I am delineating features that I want in an auction site and why.

The site you promote is for free websites, not at all is it an alternative auction site. Paypal verification does nothing to limit the fraud on ebay, I get sales all the time from unverified buyers using paypal.

As for my cart collecting personal information, I am referring to name address and telephone number...simple basic sales information.

I think the owners of that site are going to sell it.

We at TNA can do most of what you are wanting to do.
The next most serious criteria is the Sell-Through Rate. This information, for most venues, however, is difficult to gather.
I can do that.... fact is we were posting it in the community each month.

Then there's the Fee Structure. I don't want any venue that I partner with to eventually go the gluttonous way of FeePay. Fees indexed exclusively to sales have the highest integrity and best chance to stand the test of time.
We do NOT intend to go sky hi with FEE's but we can't pay any bills and advertise if we leave them like they are.

For all these things, so far, I like iOffer the best. The fact that I'm Canadian and am unable to join certain other venues may have something to do with it but this goes back to 'traffic' as well. A venue that accepts other countries has higher potential.
We are compatible with other countries with bablefish translating.

Advertising. What does the venue do to bring in new buyers? On this account I find iOffer somewhat anoemic with it's amateurish promotion that rewards only the top membership producer with an ad on the home page. $5 off iOffer fees for each new member would be far more professional and productive.
I like this idea as we do have banners at the top of the site that are strickly for sellers ONLY.

What features do you wish auction sites would have? It's time to get serious about this question. I'd like to expand it, however, to include store-type sites because the most important features seem to apply to all venues.

The most important feature, by a long shot, to a serious seller (as opposed to a hobbyist) is traffic. No other criteria comes close. Traffic equals money. Feepay is, of course, number one in this regard for now. Then there's Yahoo, Amazon, Overstock and iOffer. Every other venue is so far behind, in my view, as to not be a likely source of strong sales at this time.

I'm sure that I can't fully appreciate the amount of work involved, and desire to succeed, by the lesser traffic venues but they just haven't arrived yet. I can see dabbling with them with items of which I have multiples but they're just not places to entrust with my income at this time. If they were all to join forces with OSAN (Open Source Auction Network), however, they could become a serious force to reckon with.

I also have to wonder what would happen if Overstock and iOffer were to merge?

There are other criteria but these are the top four for me. I don't mind making friends at my venues but I'm there to make money.

I would like a feature that some of the other auction sites have.

When editing, be able to edit the duration and the price. Razz

If my item didn't sell and has a few minutes or hours left and you can see there are not many lookers, be able to add days. That way our item is ALWAYS listed and we don't need to go thru the process. AND if our item doesn't sell, maybe while editing the duration, lower the price a few bucks.

pretty much EXACTLY like ebay was BEFORE the changes (pre-dsr, etc).

One important thing is allowing wild cards, like:
car* searches carrot and carpet etc.

Definitely need a secure https server at login and entering confidential info (amazon didn't even have this for awhile unless you manually changed it to https..)

Also need to be able to search completed listings to see sell through rate etc. (can't even do that at amazon.)

I don't like how (ebid?) requires a phone number and says they randomly call numbers and delete accounts of numbers that don't exist... so if you have a cellphone paid by the year and forget to repay the phone, your account can get deleted? Plus it seems email should be sufficient and is much less annoying and has a spam filter and no telemarketing.

First of all I was not promoting another website,I was suggesting another website for auction type stores where Freewebs has an auction WEB STORE.
Open mouth and inserting your foot without reading or visiting another optional website that has auction stores hints at being contradictory and off topic and not relavant to this discussion.
Paying 50 cents for what ? lol
(this post is in regards to another comment that was blurted out apparently without any thought process behind it.).

I wish I could find an auction site that was started up by some "serious" internet entrepreneurs with the right look and feel to it. So far I've been unlucky.

I agree. So far, I've tried eBid, eCrater, blujay and eWaey.

EWaey is too new and has a long run to go before they will get their numbers high enough for buyers.

EBid is nice, but why have a lifetime fee and still charge FVF on thumbnails? Let me pay a lifetime fee and not have to worry about FVF's. No one needs bold or highlighted listings, but thumbnails are a must.

If eBay starts charging again for gallery, I think buyers would go nuts. I sure would.

Blujay is blue and gray and that's about it. They need to allow sorting of results by price and such. They also need to up the artwork a bit. The stores all look the same and very cold.

ECrater needs to get friendly people on their boards. Why not answer a question instead of directing newbies to read over 20 pages worth of posts? You are posting a reply anyways, so why not just answer their question.

eCrater only have 5 templates to choose from, so every store looks about the same with a logo and personalized picture. Almost 1,300,000 listing with only 5 templates to choose from. Wow.

I was thinking about iOffer, but the sentiment is that there will be huge issues down the road. Maybe I should just ride their wave until that time.

An auction site that would let me spam it would be a nice feature Razz .

I love PSU. Get to have some links and banners to places that I sell on. Now if they would let me "SELL SOMETHING" here I would be encouraged to do so! Is that to much to ask.

a very detailed and responsive search engine, with the results being as word specific as possible.
the ability to use sellers sourcebook!LOL! I love the way their photos come out and the templates enhance the listings in a way that gives the item a nice presentation. The ability to place as many photos as you need, is the most important part of selling, photos are worth a thousand words!
I think if a site is going to have both auctions and fixed price or buy it now items, then they should have 2 separate entities on one site. 2 separate searches, 2 separate areas in general..

The forum where the buyers and sellers can meet is always nice too!

Hi,

You can import feedback at wildwestbids.com. You can also set the site to auto relist up to 5 times free. There is no feedback for shipping because most of the time it's the postal service that delays the shipping not the seller. It's a fair playing field, and has lot's of traffic off it's sister site. It just needs the sellers. Might be worth checking out.

I need clients like you to tell me what they want out of an online auction i read lost of post and pick up the bad and good and try to incorp it in to my online site see i want my online auction site to be built and run by seller and buyers.

I have just started my website and i don't have allot of people that have sign up yet, I'm working on marketing but again Just to let you know its just me just like powersellerunite they started this site with one thing in mind to help out people.

I know how difficult it is to sell i been thier done that, that is why i created my site.
if you guys think i'm just BS. well i'm not you are welcome to ask anything just keep in mind that everything that is done on my website come out of my pocket not yours. that's why i post ads in my site to pay for hosting and domain name. this is as honest as i can get i have nothing to hide and take pride of my work.

Any feed back good or bad is welcome.
