Would eBay/Paypal retaliate if they found out powersellers are moving to WIGIX? Would they "hold" Paypal funds?
While at times things eBay does do seem to be vindictive, eBay is also all about the bottom line and the fees eBay collects thru PayPal seem to moderate the vindictiveness in that department.
eBay NARU'd me for what may have been just for my postings on the eBay boards. At the time I was worried that they might mess with my PP account too. I still use them (tho less) on alt sites and on my own web site. But other than the occasional glitch that everyone has with PP, my PP account has not had any problem at all, so far.
But to be on the safe side, it might be prudent to use a different ID on Wigix and if possible a different PP account than what you use on eBay.
JMO,

Asking for help is not beneath them. I wrote and asked when the arts category would be open...they returned the email and asked for suggestions on how to index the category. So, I got with one of my ebay art groups and we hammered out a beginning index for the category. They seem delighted. So...hopefully arts will be open for business soon.
I really like the part about category experts. Its a chance to earn 1 percent of the revenue they make in fees in any particular category that you can manage for them. Sounds good to me! I was on ebay's arts community watch for a couple years...got nada! |

I don't see how they could...its no different than having a Paypal shopping cart on my website. They sure don't hold back those funds. |

I love this site so far!! Anyone else using it? If not...Click my referral link and check it out!!
I've made a few hundred in my spare time just contributing to the site! You don't have to even sell to make money! And if it really catches on, I could be making residuals whenever items are sold that I submitted (You'll have to read about it a bit more on the site)!! Really, if you have not read about Wigix, I highly recommend that you give a few minutes of your time to check them out...? Get in while they are still in beta! |

I read in their blog that they are accepting Google Checkout now.
I probably won't stop over until they clear up their ban on selling "handicrafts"
The only explanation was that they were afraid people would sell items made from endangered animals or plants. I don't think acrylic yarn is on the endangered species list anywhere. lol....
It does look promising though as far as finding a good price for an item, kind of like when you look for something in amazon and they tell you that x amount of buyers have the item and the price range, then you could make up your own mind whether you wanted to trade with the person. It looks like they will list all the items for sale and not like feebay's best match where only the favorite sellers get placed. |

Glad to hear your thoughts!
This is part of a post from Wigix on a discussion we were having on their forum...
"Unlike manufactured goods, handicraft is one category where the materials used to produce works of art or ornaments could be subject to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Popular examples include carving or engraving on elephant and walrus tusks, rhinoceros horns, and tortoise-shell. The Convention relies on a permit system to place trade restrictions on products made from more than 5,000 species of animals and 28,000 species of plants. Of course, not all handicrafts are subject to trade restrictions though restrictions do exist in numerous categories."

yep that was the post I was reading...
So can a person sell any other hand crafted items?
I sell crocheted kitchen items mostly, like towels, pot holders, dish cloths and the occasion blanket.... my towels have gotten me into trouble with the IRS and employer taxes before so didn't want to get into more trouble with them on another site
my other website sells military collectibles so I might stop over with that stuff though... |

nope even better, after posting the last post I went back and checked it out again.
I have a ton of back issues craft magazines from my mom's estate, and I was listing them on ebay before they changed the feedback policies etc. I'm skeered to sell them on there now.
I noticed that wigix has a magazine back issue area.
So, my question is... If i list the magazines on wigix and I'm the first person to list a particular magazine/issue does that make me the pageowner too.. so I not only sell the magazine but will get a percentage from wigix from future magazines sold that I may or may not necessarily list? |

That is correct!!
If you are the first person to list a particular item, you'll get 5% of any future sales fees collected. So a magazine that is only $25.00 or less won't make you any money for being the "page owner" But an item that is 25.01 will make you $0.15 each and every time someone sells one!!
I go after "high dollar" items and "Hot selling" items...here some quick math for you to ponder...
200.00 item (5.00fee), makes you 0.25
500.00 item (11.00fee), makes you 0.55
1000.00 item (21.00fee), makes you 1.05
Don't forget...click my link b4 you join...if it's not too late? |

Just joined up ... I clicked on your link to join.
I was reading even though items under $25 you won't get the % of fees for future sales isn't there some ad revenue generated from page views of your homesteaded pages? Plus this is a new site maybe in the future there will be some payback for the cheaper items. Plus I have 16 cases of craft magazines/books etc to get out of my basement so either way it's a win for me. Plus my ebay feedback will be safe as i really only use those accounts to buy now.
See you over at wigix, I am going to go read up on how to get started |

It's a ridiculous notion. I know for a fact none of my customers are going to pay someone else money to buy from me.
"Hello and welcome to Wal-Mart, unless you spend $25 you we will add a hospitality fee of $1.50 for enjoying our store."
