When you integrate it to your own website. Feebay will never let that happen. They are counting on fraudpal too much to let any other form of payment be allowed.

E-Sell-It wrote (View Post): › Basically, if you want to accept credit cards, chargebacks is simply a price of doing business that way.

I have a merchant account for my B&M location. I have NEVER had a chargeback. On eBay, with PayPal, I have had NUMEROUS chargebacks - one was from a customer for years, who had FedEx pick up the package using her account and marked as a return, then screwed us over for close to $500! Because she used HER account, the tracking number wasn't good enough and she didn't have to sign for the package. So, no - you are NOT protected when you have authentic, brand new merchandise, even if it's a customer of years - PP will still screw you over.

The customers have just become to freakin' click happy. "Oh, I bought this yesterday and didn't get it today, so I'm going to file a chargeback!" Sellers have to live in fear, because as long as it's a "not as described" chargeback, the buyer will DEFINITELY get their money back.

ProPay is the main payment method on eBid, if that helps any Patch. Smile I haven't used it yet, but I've been seriously considering it. At least on eBid, I don't have to accept PayPal. Smile

Why would feebay allow propay? The fact that they are makes me suspicious of propay.

Oh, I'm sure there's some kind of kickback involved. eBay always makes their money.

That's what worries me. If propay has anything to do with feebay, they have to be extremely unethical and will charge us an arm and a leg. (anyone affiliated with feebay is never happy with just the arm. They always want the leg as well) With the price of gas, food and feebay, I think we are running out of arms and legs.

E-Sell-it said Propay was a Wells Fargo thing...

That's my bank I will be all over this in the morning trying to find out scoop.

Will let you all know what I find out tomorrow night.

If you read between the lines of the corporate solutions info page on wells fargo's propay website you may see a similarity to paypal. With individual accounts and custom branded mastercard debit cards etc.

Wonder who owns what?

If you are skeptical about ProPay and do not want to use PayPal, then open your own merchant account and use that..

As for GreyWolf: I agree with you on PayPal and their chargeback policies. But remember the customer is not initiating a chargeback with PayPal, they are doing it with their credit card companies.. I personally am/will be looking into getting my own merchant account because of PayPal's failure or willingness to challenge chargebacks.

But lets look at it from a Credit Card companies perspective.. How many of us have been ripped off by a seller on eBay? You are not alone. Literally millions of fraudulent items are sold NOT ONLY on eBay but are sold online period. The Credit Card companies know this and they are going to side with their customers plain and simple.
If you did nothing wrong, and the buyers complaint is false then you should have the proof to back it up. Only proof will win you a chargeback claim plain and simple. When it comes to challenging a chargeback, PayPal will in most cases not do anything about it. Where if you have your own merchant account they will be more willing to challenge it for you.. But just like PayPal, if you abuse the chargeback challenges you should expect to be dropped from their services as well..

Remember PayPal is not your merchant service. They are their own company and you are using their merchant account. They just like you, with your own merchant account, will want to limit your chargeback challenges.

Sorry everyone... didn't get to call my bank today for more details on Propay...

It may be either that PayPal is doing the back-end for the site if it looks similiar. Or it could be some locally owned IT business with a good software product that selling its services to the bank locally, and partnering with eBay. It was linked to the California Wells Fargo offices.

Mainly what I wanted to find out if my bank locally had anything like it and if they would support it locally. That way if something went wrong I could just walk into the branch and talk to a personal banker and get the issues cleared up.

just have buyers that want to pay with a check or money order do a "local pickup" and have them mail it in...how is eBay going to prove or not prove the buyer did or did not come in person for pickup of item?

And how do you plan on letting potential buyers know this? In your listing? You will be kicked for that.. Plus how will buyers know that you are even willing to do this? When they login they will be advised that no more checks and MO will be accepted and they will either vanish or bow to electronic payments..

Personally, I think they will bring it back when they get enough complaints from buyers about it.. We have toyed with the idea of doing away with checks & MO's for a while now.. We decided against it as we have had many buyers who use this option..
But then again I have weighed the pro's and con's of all of this.. I get paid faster.. Which is a plus.. The buyer is verified by means of a credit card, or bank account. (debit card, or electronic transfer.) So I do not have to worry about someone opening a new account buying my stuff claiming they mailed me a payment and slamming me with negatives without paying for it.. eBay will simply see the buyer never paid for the item and any negatives will be removed..

PostPosted: Mon Aug 25, 2008 4:10 pm   Post subject:  Ebay "FORCED" Paypal implimented Oct. 1st. Think A #30  Back to top

Go to Ebay's forums, Seller Central threads & look for this topic:

"I didn't think it was October 1 already"

Or, for those who don't mind clicking on a link...

http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?threadID=520003520&tstart=0&mod=1219687531422

If I read all the posts correctly, many sellers who offer checks/MO, as well as Paypal, are seeing all their invoices with PayPal only & also seeing their addresses for mailed payments, disappear. And some that "DO NOT" even accept PayPal, are finding their invoices showing PP only!

All you sellers on Ebay best get over there ASAP & see what's going on with your invoices..

Ebay is conveniently calling this a "glitch" One that has been going on for weeks, maybe even months!

Just thought you'd like to know...
