Hi everyone,
I have been reading the threads here for months and watching closely all the Ebay policy changes very carefully. I sold a few collectible items and had a decent sell through rate, but stopped because I honestly got scared of all the issues happening right now.
My question is can you still make some extra cash selling on Ebay casually? Is it worth the risk? I have read how Ebay wants to push out the casual seller. I am not trying to be a powerseller or have multiple accounts, but still be able to go to garage sales and swap meets and pick up the odd item cheaply and sell for a few extra bucks. More of a hobby seller more than anything.
I looked at the other sites, my favorite is blujay, but the traffic is just not there. I put several items there and barely got any hits. I turned around and where able to sell them on Ebay in 2 cycles, though. Luckily, the people who left feedback gave me 5 stars across the board.
I was a seller on Ebay back in '98-99, so I am not a complete newbie, but the game has changed so incredibly much.
I am really on the fence here. Any advice would really help from you veterns from ebay with your war wounds and war stories. |

We still make money on ebay, but we are very careful about what and how we sell there. We calculate exactly what our fees will be before we even list an item. We check closed listings to make sure there's demand for what we want to sell. We also do our best to find out how long it will take to sell, so we can factor in the listing fees for the 3 or 4 weeks it might take to sell. If you're not in hurry and it's just stuff from around the house there are plenty of free and nearly no cost sites talked about here where you can save the ebay fees. If you find your stuff is really hot or you want or need the money faster, ebay might be your best bet. |

Can't make "cash" on Ebay anymore - it's illegal Only Paypal is legimate legal tender (in Ebay world). |

I just couldn't resist - it's the rebel in me coming out. The Paypal only thing was the straw that broke this camel's back. I think there was a book written about Ebay once - called "1984". Can you say "Big Brother is watchin??". If I find a nice little auction site to sell a few things on, I will be very happy. Either way, it's bye, bye Ebay come Oct. I'll miss the people, but not the corporation. |

i thought that when they removed digital download ability that i'd be screwed since i sold digital items....
but i converted everything to cd...and now i'm back in business.
it's a lot easier, and i don't know...seems more legit.
i don't know, in business you take lemons and turn them into lemonade |
