A Nebraska man who bought almost $70,000 in stamps from post offices across the country and then sold them on eBay was sentenced in federal court in St. Louis today to nearly two years in prison.
David A. King, 45, of Omaha, bought the stamps using what appeared to be business checks, but the checks were fake and the bank accounts didn't exist.
King worked his scheme between January and August of 2006, at post offices across Missouri and in Kansas, Colo., Iowa, Okla., Utah, Minn., Wyo., Mass. and New York.
At the time of King's indictment in December, investigators said he'd printed up checks on a home computer. He used 11 different business names.
